The poetically concise insights that form both his commentary to, and his meditational gems on, the Shoshinge, foundational thoughts of the Pure Land Patriarch Shonin, is a good example of what can happen when a person’s mind-focus shifts from delusional to clear mirror reflective activity. It shows that one’s prison is only as confining as the mind creating the confined condition. When one begins to cultivate the Mind of Emptiness, all boundaries cease to bind. Was it not Oscar Wilde who wrote that walls do not a prison make? Indeed, Inconceivable Light and Infinite Life know no walls.
